Lina - The Doctor

Lina is a doctor from the children's hospital. We had a conversation about people going to traditional healers for casts instead of doctors, what the public's opinion on doctors is, and what she thinks would help decrease the rate of amputations resulting from homemade casts.

"it’s a big issue to me. I mean, why are there doctors? It’s for that. So why would you go to someone who has no experience in something which will mess up someone’s limb to the point where it gets cut off because it dies." -Lina

"I’ve been told that people think if you go to the doctors they’re going to take their money. So they think that they’re going to go and have to pay tons of dirhams to get treatment, which is not the case because we do it for free." -Lina

"They should try to find out more because in the end it costs them more. It costs them money that they paid to the healer first and it costs them their child’s hand or leg, which is really sad." -Lina
